The Manual Touch Physical Therapy | Wheeling, IL
At The Manual Touch Physical Therapy, we believe healing begins by understanding the whole person, not just the place that hurts.
When Denise Schwartz opened the practice in 2010, she brought decades of clinical experience and a deep curiosity about how the body truly heals. Early in her career, she focused on traditional deep tissue techniques and saw how powerful hands-on care could be. She also noticed that for many people, pain relief did not last, and sometimes stronger pressure made symptoms worse.
That realization led Denise to study Integrative Manual Therapy, a gentle, light-touch approach that works with the nervous system, circulation, connective tissue, and other body systems that influence healing. She later integrated Applied Functional Science, a movement-based system that retrains the body for better alignment, balance, and strength in real-life activities.
Together, these approaches form our Whole Body Approach. We look beyond symptoms to understand how different areas of the body influence one another. A foot issue can affect the hip. A breathing pattern can influence neck tension. Everything is connected.
Today, our team helps people of all ages reduce pain, restore mobility, and return to the activities they love, whether that is running, gardening, yoga, or playing with grandchildren.
We believe physical therapy should help you understand your body, move with confidence, and feel more in control of your healing journey. Our goal is not just relief, but lasting change that supports the life you want to live.
