I’ve been told getting a good front desk person is the most difficult hire of any small business.
Lucky for me, I didn’t have to search far for just that perfect person, my mother.
As she only comes in once a week, not all of you have met her, but those of you who have, I’m sure you would all agree she is extremely friendly and inviting.
Here is a little bit about my mom, our front desk employee at The Manual Touch Physical Therapy:
What do you like about working at The Manual Touch?
I like meeting the patients as they come in the door and then watch Denise interact with them. Meeting new people is what I miss most about working, as I used to lease apartments and was meeting new people every day. I work at The Manual Touch one time a week and help out with the shredding, plants, scanning, general cleaning-up and answering phones. After work, I usually go out to dinner with Denise and her family. I feel really fortunate I can help my daughter with her business.
How did physical therapy help you?
Over 10 years ago, I used to have constant neck and back pain with certain movements. Since then, I rarely have neck and back pain and, overall, I feel better. I can even bend over without hurting my back. Denise has taught me relaxation techniques for when I have anxiety and I have learned how to sit, do stairs, and work on my balance.
What do you like to do to keep busy?
I play cards, Canasta, twice a week with friends. I go to the Deerfield senior center a few times a week for various activities such as dinner, dancing, or listening to speakers. My favorite speakers are local actors who re-enact a historical story or speakers talking about musical composers. I enjoy movies and the opera. One of my favorite activities is going to the Botanic Garden with Denise or a friend to relax in the beautiful gardens.
